Also, both the Grand Rapids Cycling Classic and the Terry Reisch Memorial Race combined to form the first ever Michigan Mid-Summer Ominum!
to celebrate THE event of July, the Tour de France, where Michigan has a native-son racing for the first time in 10 years (Brent Bookwalter of BMC), and the celebrate summer as well as Michigan’s only Pro Category NRC race and Michigan’s only Charity Race, these two races will be part of the
“Michigan Mid-Summer Omnium”
Based on a series of points, that will be weighted towards total team attendance as well as towards attendance at both events and top placings in all the categories, each racer can score points that will be tabulated for overall USAC Cycling Club participation. That means that clubs with multiple teams, like the Ann Arbor Velo Club, which has two mens teams and a separate womens team, will all score points towards the overall Omnium for the AAVC.
The winning team will be awarded 25 commemorative yellow jersey-like shirts designating them the overall -
“Michigan Mid-Summer Omnium Team-Champions”
So get ready for some of the best racing in Michigan the weekend of July 10th / 11th.
